PORT WASHINGTON -- When Port Washington Council met April 7, it was learned that Triad Roofing of Sugarcreek will start their work of roofing the fire station by the end of April.
Mayor Tom Gardner also wanted to remind residents to remove old flowers from the Union Cemetery by April 15 so clean-up can begin. Clean-up day at the cemetery will be April 18 at 9 a.m.
Council also entered into a contract with Tuscarawas County Health Department for mosquito spraying again this summer.
Council discussed the possibility of applying for a block grant for a paving project for Arch Street. Councilmember Lori Goettge will do the necessary paperwork with Stark County Development program.
Goettge announced that Union Hospital will have a health screening day at the village municipal building on April 27 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Councilman Joe Bourne gave a fire report for the month of March.
Police chief Shawn Nelson reported that clean-up notices for the village will be served soon.
The May 5 meeting of council will be a joint meeting with Salem Township trustees and the Union Cemetery Board.
