Kindergarten registration make-up day
If you missed kindergarten registration in April, you can still register your child on May 28 here at East School. You will need to bring the child's Social Security card, birth certificate, shot records and any custody papers, if applicable. This will be by appointment only. Baked steak 'Relay' benefit
A baked steak dinner will take place at April's Country Kitch'n to benefit Relay For Life on Sunday, May 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $6 per person. The menu includes baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, dessert and a beverage. Carry-out will also be available. There will be a raffle held with drawings done every 30 minutes that day.

The Newcomerstown Teachers' Association will have its annual retirement dinner on Saturday, May 30 at Christ UMC in the River of Life Center. At 6 p.m. there will be a social time and appetizers. The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by recognition of new retirees, awards and more. Any Newcomerstown schools' retirees or employees wanting to attend can send reservations to Bev Darr at the Newcomerstown East School. The cost of the dinner is $20 per person. Deadline for reservations is Friday, May 15.

Roast beef dinner
PORT WASHINGTON -- St. Paul's United Church of Christ, corner of High and Arch streets, Port Washington, will be having a roast beef dinner on Saturday, May 16 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The menu includes slow-roasted beef, baked potato, vegetable, salad bar, roll and beverage.
The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 5 to 10 and free for children under age 5.
Proceeds from the dinner will benefit Relay For Life.
NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross will have a CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED training on May 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The training will take place at the Red Cross office, 1451 Fourth St. NW, New Philadelphia.

Cy Young Days
Newcomerstown's Cy Young Days Festival is scheduled for June 26-28 in the village. A new queen's competition will be June 25.
Newcomerstown TOPS OH No. 1378 meets every Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church, 648 Oak St., Newcomerstown. Weigh-in is from 5:15 to 6 p.m. with the meeting to start at 6:15 p.m.
U.S. Census workers
The News has learned that U.S. Census Bureau workers may be or have been in the village of Newcomerstown requesting information from residents. The Newcomerstown Police Department wanted residents to be aware.
The Newcomerstown High School hallways are available for anyone interested in walking in the mornings from 5 to 7 a.m. The Beaver Street doors will be unlocked at 5 a.m.
East School seeks volunteers
The Newcomerstown East Elementary School is looking for volunteers from the community to come in and help with teachers and students. Volunteers would be helping with AR tests, clerical items, etc. Call 498-6601 or stop by the East School office for more information.
Sonshine Boxes drop-off
Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newcomerstown is a collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
