PORT WASHINGTON -- The Port Washington Memorial Day service will commence at noon on Monday, May 25 at Union Cemetery, Port Washington.
The service will include the recognition of all veterans at the service, music from the Indian Valley High School Band and a 21-gun salute from the Newcomerstown American Legion Honor Guard.
The guest speaker will be Paul Billig from Port Washington. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Following the service, there will be a parade of the veterans, followed by vintage farm tractors and other vehicles with them all traveling to the town square where there will be a chicken barbecue provided by the Delaware Valley Fire District. The meal includes barbecue chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad, roll, dessert and drink. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Monies raised from the barbecue will benefit the fire department.
A 1 p.m., there will be a military fly-over of Port Washington in honor of our nation's veterans who served our country in time of need.
