STONE CREEK -- Edwin and Denise Gilmore of Stone Creek were honored at a party on April 1 to celebrate a milestone year.
The celebration included Edwin turning 70, Denise during 60, and they were married 40 years -- all during the month of April.
The party, which took place at the Grace Community Church, was given by their four children, Daniel (Danielle) of Kimbolton, Dale of New Philadelphia, Joshua of Stone Creek, and April (Joey) Ancona of Wallingford, Conn. Two of the couple's grandchildren, Justin and Kaylee Gilmore, were also in attendance.
Edwin Gilmore and Denise Fausnight were married April 22, 1972, in Kimbolton. Denise is a 1970 graduate of Newcomerstown High School, and Edwin is a 1961 graduate of River High School, Hannibal, along the river.
Nearly 100 guests of family and friends attended the party. The couple arrived using a cane and a crutch due to them celebrating 170 years.
After the luncheon was served, the couple cut the anniversary cake using the knife they used 40 years prior at their wedding. A second cake was decorated for their birthdays.
Following dessert, their daughter, April Gilmore, quizzed her parents in a "newlywed" type game.
