Car show planned

KIMBOLTON -- The Kimbolton Homecoming Festival will have its 22nd annual car show on Sunday, Aug. 26. This is a judged show with dash plaques going to the first 30 to register. Registration fee will be $10 beginning at 10:30 a.m. There will be food and music rain or shine.

Back to School swim

The Cy Young Pool in Newcomerstown will be offering a "Back to School Swim" from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. The cost will be the same as Family Night swims at $5 for a family or $2 per individual. The pool continues to offer adult swims from 11 a.m. to noon daily for a $1 per individual. The pool will close for the season Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Retired teachers meeting

All retired Newcomerstown School teachers are invited to a meeting on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 9 a.m. for breakfast at the Tents of Grace Cafe in Gnadenhutten. Call 498-6452 by Aug. 20 for reservations.

Quilting in museum

The Newcomerstown Quilting Bees will be working on the Community Quilt in the Temperance Tavern Museum every Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to help. For information, call Gladys Hinds at 498-6240.

Movie night set

A recently released movie will be shown at the Newcomerstown Library Annex on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. The movie night is free and if you bring a non-perishable food item, you will be entered into a drawing to receive a copy of the movie.

School open house

West Elementary School will be having an open house on Tuesday, Aug. 21 during the following times: Second grade only from 6 to 7 p.m.; and third, fourth and fifth grades from 7 to 8 p.m.

First day of school will be Wednesday, Aug. 22.

Back to School Fair set

The Newcomerstown Teacher's Association and Project HOPE will be hosting its third annual Back to School Fair for Newcomerstown students who will be entering preschool through fifth grade.

The event will be Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. a t Newcomerstown West Elementary, 517 Beaver St., Newcomerstown.

Students, accompanied by an adult, will receive school supplies, free hair cuts, nutritious snacks, door prizes and information from area businesses, agencies and organizations.

Kimbolton Homecoming set

KIMBOLTON -- The Kimbolton Homecoming celebration is set for Aug. 25-26. A chicken barbecue, parade, raffle tickets, 50-50 drawing, car show, square dance and yard sales are all planned. The square dance will be Saturday, Aug. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. and will feature Rod Bradford and Buddies.

Yellow Flag Community Yard Sales

WEST LAFAYETTE -- The West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce announces the upcoming Yellow Flag Community Yard Sales for the Fall. The dates are Sept. 7 to Sept. 8 with the sign-up deadline at Brother's Hardware and Variety Store in West Lafayette on or before Aug. 28 for media maps and Aug. 31 for in-house maps which will be available at various locations in the village.

Farmers market continues

Newcomerstown Farmers Market is up and running for the season. It takes place every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomerstown Library parking lot. Enjoy fresh local produce and baked goods. You will also find assorted crafts, jewelry, soap and candles.

Christ's Kitchen

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off

Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
