ZOAR -- Whitemyer Advertising, Inc. would like to announce the winners of the 2013 Zoar Art Competition and Exhibition held during the Zoar Harvest Festival Aug. 3-4.

The $1,000 Edna Lueking Memorial Award for Best of Show was granted to Diane Granger of Minerva for her oil work titled The Towering Zoar School House.

Two $100 Best Drawing and Sketches awards were given to Peggy Hellem of Sherrosville for Pencil Drawing and Brian Robinson of Dover for See Through.

The $500 Scott Whitemyer Memorial Student Award went to Karen Beitzel of New Philadelphia for her work Strolling Through the Garden.

The $300 Folk Art Award was given to Rosemary Hall of Dover for Life on the Canal.

The $500 Frederick Gottwald Award for Best Oil Painting, sponsored by the Zoar Community Association, was presented to Kathleen Farthing of Alliance for The Bimeler Museum.

The $500 Ora Koltman Watercolor Award, also sponsored by the ZCA, was awarded to William Koch of Dennison for his work The Keeping Rooms Bed and Breakfast.

The Zoar Art Contest & Exhibition was created to help renew interest in the creation of fine art depicting Zoar scenes.

It is open to artists of high school ages and older, but artwork must feature subjects and scenes of Zoar.

More than $32,000 has been awarded to contest participants over the past twelve years.
