Due to inclement weather, the U.S. Route 36 westbound on-ramp at closure at Water Street in Uhrichsville has been extended. The on-ramp is now expected to re-open on Monday, April 9, weather permitting. The on-ramp is currently closed to traffic for a bridge deck repair. Beginning at the Water Street and U.S. 250 eastbound on-ramp, traffic will be detoured on U.S. 250 east to the U.S. 250 / 2nd Street Exit in Dennison, then take the U.S. 36 westbound on-ramp. ODOT’s maintenance crew is performing this work.
The Newcomerstown Public Library is planning a Cake Baking Contest on Thursday, April 26, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Does your cake have what it takes to wow your Library's judges? Flavor and presentation are considered. Cakes must be made from scratch, but they can be any size or flavor. Cakes need to be dropped off at the library by noon. Contestants don't need to be present for judging. A list of ingredients for allergies is required. Cakes will be judged by taste, texture, and overall appearance. Four rewards will be given, including a patron's choice award. So drop into the Library and vote! Entries must register by April 14.
Brenda Hoffman Scholarship Benefit will be Saturday, April 7, at Cy Young Lanes, Newcomerstown. There will be open bowling from 1 p.m. to midnight and a lane can be rented at $20 an hour. There will be a chicken barbecue from 1-5 p.m. with chicken prepared by Brice Miller. Tickets are $10 and includes a chicken half and two sides. Pre-sale tickets are available. A cornhole tournament will begin at 3 p.m., weather permitting. There will also be a 50/50 and silent auction. Donations can be made at the Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union. The event funds scholarships to Newcomerstown High School students in memory of Brenda Hoffman.

Class of 1960
The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1960 will meet for lunch at noon on April 11 at The Coshocton Yard, 442 Main St., Coshocton.
The West Lafayette Library is featuring the art of Lorie Udischas during April. Lorie is showing her acrylic paintings of birds and a landscape. Library hours are Monday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Kimbolton Community Center will reopen on Sunday, April 8 with the first music program of the year. Music will begin at noon and continue until 3 p.m. Menu for the day will include baked steak and chicken dinners, as well as an assortment of sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts. Carry out is available. This event, sponsored by The Kimbolton Homecoming Committee, is open to the public with no admission charge. Programs for the remainder of the year will be held on the first Sunday of each month.
Dinner, bake sale
PORT WASHINGTON — St. Paul’s United Church of Christ at the corner of High and Arch streets in Port Washington will host a roast beef dinner and bake sale from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 7. Prices are: adults, $12; children 6-12, $5; children 5 and under, free.
