A 17-year-old male from Ashland was arrested Thursday after he led police on a multi-county chase from the Career Center and ended on Illinois Avenue in Mansfield.
Sgt. Randy Wood of the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office said he was informed the 17-year-old was going to be at the career center and went that way — the male had a warrant after failing to appear in the Ashland County Juvenile Court.
Wood said he identified the male, who was in a truck and drove out of the career center parking lot.
"He took off and I got him going 70 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone and I turned my lights on," Wood said. "He didn’t stop and kept going."
The 17-year-old ultimately ended up in a field on Illinois Avenue, where he lost control of the truck and attempted to escape on foot, Wood said.
Eventually, police caught him. The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Richland County Sheriff’s Office and Mansfield Police Department were involved in the chase.
The Ashland County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case.
