Wilson Carpet and Furniture at 230 Main Street in Coshocton has established itself as a fixture in the community.
For over 31 years, it has maintained a reputation for honesty, reliability, and outstanding service to its ever growing base of repeat customers. The Wilson family's success stems from providing beautiful furniture, great service, low prices, and hometown relationships. They will assist you in making your house a true home; warm and cozy; or as they say, "you will be as snug as a bug in a rug."
Operations consist of a team of friendly and dedicated people. Owners John and Trish Wilson, their son, Zak, plus another salesman and two delivery persons.
The company was established in 1985 in West Lafayette, where it remained for four years of solid growth. And then the family-owned business loaded up the truck, so to speak, and moved to nearby Coshocton in 1989. Locating first in a mini-plaza on 2nd Street before taking root at their current location on Main Street.
The Wilson's bought the Main Street building in 1992 and has installed elaborate displays of carpeting, furniture, and bedding on all five floors that can help you make the right decision for any additions or upgrades to your home.
The company's line of inventory has continued to evolve with various vendors and household items. Wilson Carpet and Furniture has 16,000 square feet of display space and another 10,000 square feet of storage space in their warehouse. Undisputedly, it is the largest furniture and floor covering store in Coshocton County.
Wilson Carpet and Furniture expanded even more in 1999 when Fountain Furniture closed its doors and Wilson became Coshocton's official La-Z-Boy dealer.
While browsing the first floor, I unknowingly discovered that all the furniture on that floor was La-Z-Boy, which is made in Tennessee. This naive reporter was under the impression that La-Z-Boy furniture was just large old-style recliners that grandparents bought. Not so. La-Z-Boy now has very modern and contemporary styles that will fit into any home decor. Wilson has over 50 styles of recliners in their La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio. I saw two items that I immediately put on my wishlist.
Floor coverings can also be found on the first floor of the store. John Wilson's forte is providing full-service floor coverings assistance. He can suggest the right material for your home project and try to help you stay within your budget. John and his brother were even doing the installing until two years ago. Now his son, Josh, and nephew, Eddie do the installing.
On the second floor, you will find an impressive selection of Basset bedroom furniture and comfy Serta Perfect Sleeper and Serta iComfort mattresses that are made in Cincinnati. Wilson Carpet and Furnitures prides itself on "Made in America."
Trish Wilson is also very proud of the company's commitment to the community and various charities and other worthy causes. Wilson Carpet and Furniture makes a monetary donation to Autism Speaks for every bedding set they sell.
The company also donates to the United Way and has supported city recreation, the Canal Days, its Royalty, and consistently donates door prizes and items to other organizations and events.
Trish said, "The majority of our business is in Coshocton and Coshocton County. It's important for us to support Coshocton and to give back to our community. This helps to make it a better place for us all to live and work."
Just as I could have possibly browsed the store for hours, so could I continue to write about the top floor of the store that showcases the furniture nook, the entertainment center, and dining room displays.
And, of course, the store would not be complete without its bargain basement level filled with discounted and discontinued household gems.
For over three decades, Wilson Carpet and Furniture has been serving friends and neighbors in the Coshocton area by offering furniture and mattress items that not only can the average family afford, but items that will also endure typical family usage.
You owe it to yourself to drop in and browse all five floors. It's doubtful that you will regret it.
