Despite the lack of personnel in the village, officials in Newcomerstown have said that they are ready when the snow starts flying. Newcomerstown Street Superintendent Bob Martin, r, explains how to hook up the snow plow to the village truck while Newcomerstown Mayor Jim Friel looks on. There will be at least five village employees that will be handling the snow removal duties in the village. Martin said the village has plenty of salt and grit (smaller pebble-like stone) to apply to village streets. However, village residents are urged to not park on the streets during snowstorms so plows can get through. The main thoroughfares will be plowed first and then the secondary streets with emphasis on the streets with steep hills.
