The Newcomerstown Middle School Science classes, grades sixth through eighth, participate in an annual activity in December to raise money for others in need during the holiday season. Students are invited to watch a movie in science class and purchase popcorn, slushes, and candy. This year, the students raised $301.43 in two days. Science teachers, Mrs. Tara Supers, Mr. Don Stevens, and Mrs. Donna Yoder, along with NMS principal Jason Peoples, made the decision that this year the money would be sent to the Sandy Hook Elementary School Support Fund in Newtown, Conn., to assist those affected by the tragedy. Pictured are two middle school students, holding the bucket of money to be donated; and they are, Alex Gano, sixth grader, daughter of Justin and Amber Gano of Newcomerstown, and Calvin Ringer, seventh grader, son of Matt and Cathy Ringer of Kimbolton.
