Students in Miss Hindel's eighth grade art classes at the Newcomerstown Middle School have been learning about "Form," one of the Seven Elements of Design. To create and understand Form better, the students were shown how to construct a 3D snowflake from six pieces of paper. After each student finished their own individual snowflake, the project inspired one group of students to think about how they could incorporate color, design and even scale into their snowflakes. Together, Colton Gamble, Brandan Septer Lafferty, Lane Gribble (behind the snowflake in the photo), Garret Mozena, and Matt Dalton planned and constructed the giant snowflake in this picture, using six pieces of 12-inches by 12-inches paper. This wonderful snowflake is proudly displayed in the middle school art room and is a big hit throughout the school.
