Cy Young Lanes in Newcomerstown: Celebrating 25 years in business

Cy Young Lanes in Newcomerstown, and owners Leman and Penny Clark are celebrating more than a quarter of a century in business.

The Clarks built and opened Cy Young Lanes on Feb. 14, 1988, after previously owning Emerald Lanes (which was located where Tastee Apple is currently in the village).

Some of the changes to the bowling alley over the years have come to the ways in which scoring has become more modern with computers, as well as the automated bumpers and how the lane is finished (or the machines that are used to clean and polish the lanes).

"The key is to making the lanes easier to bowl on," Leman said about the bowling alley.

Besides bowling, Cy Young Lanes also specializes in food and offers a full menu. At one time, they were also catering. However, Leman said they no longer cater but offer a daily lunch special and orders can be delivered if phoned in by 10:30 a.m. (to insure delivery by noon that day).

Overall, they want to thank their customers for 25 years of business and hope for "many more to come."

Cy Young Lanes is located at 930 Mill St., Newcomerstown. For information, call 498-8635.
