Let the Library help with your new year resolutions. Teach yourself a new skill like crocheting or woodworking. Start learning Spanish. New hobbies and interests are only a book away and for the low price of free. With the new year comes new programming and the return of favorites. New to the Library is the Genealogy Club. Beginner sessions begin Saturday, Jan. 14 and Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10-1 p.m. Learn how to use the Library's Ancestry.com subscription, the digital microfilm machine, and research techniques all for free. Trivia returns Friday, Jan. 6 at 6:30 p,m. Euchre also returns Friday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Make and Take (Wednesday, Jan. 18) has new expanded sessions. The morning session runs 9:30-11:30 a.m. and the afternoon session runs 12:30-2:30 p.m. Don't forget the Adult Book Club meets the first Thursday of every month.

This year brings several new children's programs. The Afterschool Book Club begins Monday, Jan. 17 for 3rd to 5th graders. The club runs from 4:30-5:30 p.m. January 11 marks the start of the Coloring Club from 4:30-5:30 p.m. A kid's board game day is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 13 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Finally, the Middle School Book club kicks off Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The Library's new movie arrivals: Star Trek Enterprise Seasons 1-3; Alias Seasons 1-3; Criminal Minds Seasons 1-2; Under the Dome Season 3; Don't Breathe; The List; Coat of Many Colors; Scream Queens Season 1; Friday Night Lights Season 4; Bones Season 4; 2016 World Series; Pete's Dragon; Pokemon: Johto Journeys; Pokemon Kalos Quest; Lion of Judah; and Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Here are a few additional events for this week:

Middle School Book Club, Tuesday, Jan. 10: 4:30-5:30 p.m. Drop into the library for this monthly book club for 6th-8th graders.

Coloring Club, Wednesday, Jan. 11: 4:30-5:30 p.m. Visit the Newcomerstown Public Library for coloring. Use the Library's coloring sheets and materials or bring your own.

Kid's Gameday, Friday, Jan. 13: 4:30-5:30 p.m. Get your game on and show off your mad board game skills.
