Buckeye Career Center has honored two students as the April Students of the Month. Tim Sanders, a senior from Carrollton High School is enrolled in the Agriculture and Diesel Technology program, while Paul Hanner of Newcomerstown, who is enrolled in the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA), is the adult education Student of the Month.

Sanders is anxious to complete his high school education and move on to Owens Community College to complete the two-year Diesel Technician program.

He received a scholarship from Ohio Cat.

Sanders has played football for three years and wrestled one for Carrollton.

He has also been active in FFA for four years and participated in the Lawrence County Young Guns group.

His hobbies include being outdoors, working on trucks, riding dirt bikes, hunting and fishing.

Buckeye Career Center Principal Jay Davis nominated Sanders for the honor.

"Tim is a very motivated young man and hard working. His maturity and demeanor make him a leader among his peers. He is currently taking career technical programming all day and his academics online so he can further his knowledge of Agricultural and Diesel Mechanics," said Davis.

Tim lives in Dellroy and is the son of Carl and Marla Sanders.

Meanwhile, Hanner has always wanted to go into the law enforcement field.

He was nominated by Commander Fred Smith.

According to Smith, "Mr. Hanner is a class leader. He is very professional and is attentive to detail. He is a good student and he'll make a fine officer once he completes the academy."

Buckeye Career Center honors two students each month at the Board of Education meeting, which was held Tuesday evening. They also receive keepsake photo banners.
