In the 2015 Community Health Needs Assessment conducted by Healthy Tusc, 35 percent of Tuscarawas County adults and 46 percent of southern Tuscarawas County adults reported having arthritis, a painful condition that involves inflammation in one or more joints. Arthritis can lead to swelling, pain, stiffness, decreased range of motion, and worse symptoms. To address this concern and provide help for people who live with pain due to arthritis, back problems, achy joints, or fibromyalgia, Trinity Hospital Twin City's Community Outreach Department is hosting a free mini-seminar "Overcoming Pain," at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 27.
At the mini-seminar, featured speaker, Dr. Michael Jakubowski, DC, will share methods for controlling pain naturally and for preventing additional pain. Dr. Jakubowski is a chiropractic specialist with more than 12 years of experience. Physical therapist, JoAnn Devany, PT/DPT, from Trinity Hospital Twin City's Rehab Center, will also share advice for treating pain.
"When we learned about the number of adults in our area who suffer from arthritis pain, we knew this was a seminar topic we would need to offer," explained Kelly Bowe, Trinity Hospital Twin City's Community Outreach Coordinator. "Our hope is that many of those who are living in pain will attend to receive helpful advice to improve their quality of life."
Healthy snacks will be served, and door prizes will be awarded. For more information or to register for the free "Overcoming Pain" event at Trinity Hospital Twin City, visit www.trinitytwincity.org or call 740-922-7450, ext. 2124.
