Former NHS graduate re-elected to post at law firm

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The partners at the national labor and employment law firm Fisher & Phillips LLP have re-elected Roger K. Quillen to the firm's management committee. The three-member management committee has also re-elected Quillen to serve as the group's chairman and the firm's managing partner.

Quillen is originally from West Lafayette and graduate from Newcomerstown High School in 1971.

Quillen has served on the management committee continuously since 1997 and has been the firm's chairman and managing partner since 1999. Management committee members are elected to serve three-year terms. Quillen's fellow committee members are Thomas P. Rebel and Charles S. Caulkins.

"I appreciate the trust my partners continue to place in me. Ten years into my tenure as the firm's managing partner, I am even more excited about our firm's future than I was when I started. In some ways, we look like a different law firm today. We have expanded from five offices to twenty-one, and we have added several sophisticated practice groups, including Global Immigration, Employee Defection and Trade Secrets, and Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management. But where it counts the most, we are the same firm. Despite our growth, we have not just preserved our firm culture, we have multiplied it through the careful selection of the right people. It is fun to work with so many talented lawyers in so many places sharing a common philosophy and approach to practice," he said.

Quillen's practice involves litigation covering a wide range of employment discrimination issues, employee welfare benefit plans, the Railway Labor Act and issues arising before the National Labor Relations Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. His special emphasis is in federal appellate litigation. He has argued cases in most of the federal courts of appeals, with subject matter ranging from review of NLRB decisions to class action arising from changes in retiree health insurance plans. He also represents employers in collective bargaining and counsels them on strategies designed to prevent claims and lawsuits.

Human Resource Executive magazine in May named Quillen one of "The Nation's Most Powerful Employment Attorneys -- Top 10 for Labor Law." He has received repeat recognition as a "Georgia Super Lawyer," a Georgia "Legal Elite" and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. From 1990 until 2001, he co-authored Labor and Employment Law in Georgia (LEXIS Publishing).

He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Law With Honors in 1980. He also holds a Master's of Science Degree from Purdue University and two Bachelor's Degrees from The Ohio State University.
