Fundraiser set

The East School fundraiser began Feb. 5 and will run through Feb. 20. They will be using the TRI-C Company again this year.

There is a wide variety of items to choose from. There are snack foods, soup and dip mixes, cookie mixes, sports team items, and flower bulbs -- something for everybody! There is a wide price range that should fit every budget. Students should sell to family and friends, but of course, not go door-to-door. All the proceeds from our sale will benefit the students at East School. All orders, along with full payment, should be returned to school by Feb. 20.

Perfect attendance

Congratulations to the following students who have received perfect attendance for the first semester.

This is quite an accomplishment. They are very proud of these students. Good attendance at school not only helps students' learning, it also promotes good habits for a lifetime!

Kindergarten: Nevaeh Phillips, Clayton Fish, Parker Cline, Ayden Kennedy. Zane Pippin and Lane Zickel.

First grade: Caidence Bricker, Tristen Bryan, Nevaeh Mayberry, Trace Bryan, Wesley Hayes, Jaidyn Peoples, Alyssa Pippin, Heather Halsey and Keiona Warren.

Mobile dentist coming

The mobile dentist will be at the East School on April 12. All children are eligible for the screening, cleaning, and fluoride treatment. Information will be coming home soon with students.

Kindergarten registration

Kindergarten registration is set for April 11 and April 12 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, S. College Street, Newcomerstown (next to the East School).

Times for registration are April 11 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m., and April 12 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2013. It is most important that all children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall come to registration. The child will be given a speech and hearing test, Brigance test, and vision screening. Parents must bring immunization records, birth certificate, social security card, and in the case of a separation or divorce, parents must bring proof of custody. Registration will take some time so plan ahead for this special time for you and your child. Parents and their child do not need to schedule an appoint; just show up during the scheduled times listed above.

This year all children who attend registration will be given crayons, scissors, a pencil, and glue stick for use at home. Parents will be given a Kindergarten Handbook and many suggestions to use to help children best prepare for entering school. If you have any questions about registration, call the East School Office at 498-6601.
