In 2015, Mike and Jen LaVigne opened the popular Fit4U Nutrition in the square on Main Street. In December of 2014, they were wanting to make a lifestyle change and had a goal of starting on a health plan. With that, they have become advocates for making changes in your life and one way is by replacing meals with healthy, nutritional shakes/smoothies.
Now they have purchased the gym and the building at 143 W. Main St. and have moved Fit4U Nutrition into the east frontside and will continue to build upon the gym creating the new Fit4U Fitness. The new gym located next to the nutrition bar on the west side and will be expanded to the rear with some new space.
New state regulated and certified tanning beds are being placed in the back and new state-of-the-art cardio equipment has been ordered for the gym. The tanning beds were one of the most requested items from their suggestion box.
Fit4U Fitness will honor the previous gym's memberships and does not plan on raising any membership fees. Currently, one-month fees are $30/single, $50/couple; three months - $84/single, $144/couple; six months - $162/single, $276/couple; twelve months - $312/single, $528 couple. Children and students (15-18 years old) may be added to any plan at $10 per month. There are no annual fees or contracts.
If you are a First Responder, student, senior citizen, veteran or active military, you qualify for a 10% discount.
There are also plans for the second floor of the building that include large open spaces for special exercise classes and perhaps banquet space for rental.
Members also have access to an online gym management program where they can find information and schedule various classes and activities, such as the Fit Camp and Walking Clubs currently being held at West Elementary School. These two programs are free to the community.
With the Fit4U Nutrition bar, Fit4U Fitness will have more of a presence in the building than the previous gym. The gym will continue to be open 24-hours, seven days a week. The nutrition bar will be staffed Mondays-Fridays from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Fit4U Nutrition serves approximately 75 flavors of healthy smoothies; each with about 200 to 250 calories. The LaVignes lost 40 pounds each from January to July after they opened shop.
But not every smoothie is for weight loss; there are many different types including weight management, weight gain, energy, protein, and many other health benefits. Fit4U Nutrition can tailor make a smoothie that fits your needs.
On both sides of the establishment, patrons can enjoy a great atmosphere and friendly socialization from being in a healthy nutrition group.
The Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 8-4 p.m. and Sunday, March 5, 12-3 p.m. with door prizes, food and specials.
Fit4U Fitness and Fit4U Nutrition are located at 143 W. Main St. 740-498-LIFT (5438).
Spring is just around the corner and it is never too late to make a healthy resolution.
