Immediate past president Ron Haver was recently honored by the Newcomerstown Lions Club. Ron received a plaque in appreciation of his "contributions, dedication and outstanding service to Lion" during his time as president.

For most of his list of accomplishments were the organizing of the Newcomerstown Leo Club at the high school and his promoting and support of the Memory Garden project at Cy Young Memorial Park among many other projects.

At the present time, the Lions and Leos are collecting items for refurbishing and recycling. In addition to the usual eyeglasses, they are adding cell phones, hearing aids, and electric shavers. It is asked that hearing aids be placed in plastic bags for safety's sake.

If you should find some of these items during spring housekeeping, please consider donating them to be used by someone in need.

Collection points include Newcomerstown Public Library, Senior Center, Dr. Yoder's office, and any Lion or Leo Club member, or contact Don at 740-498-6433.

Plans are also being made for the annual carnation sale which will be just in time for the Easter season.
