PORT WASHINGTON An early morning fire destroyed a storage building at Alloy Custom Products, 4302 Shoemaker Road SW in Salem Township.
The building was a total loss.
Firefighters were dispatched at 8:53 a.m. Four departments responded to the blaze - Delaware Valley in Port Washington, Arrowhead in Gnadenhutten, Newcomerstown and Stone Creek. They battled the fire through intermittent rain showers.
The fire started in insulation in the ceiling of the building, said Capt. Eric Glazer of the Delaware Valley department. People were working in the structure to remodel it when the fire started, but they got out safely.
No one was injured.
The State Fire Marshal's Office has been called in to investigate.
Alloy Custom Products repairs cryogenic trailers in a building at the front portion of the site.
