Horse shows

The Newcomerstown Saddle Club will sponsor horse shows at the Sunset Arena in Newcomerstown including Contest Fun Shows June 24, July 15 and Aug. 26, and an Open Horse Show on July 29. All shows begin at 5 p.m. Fun shows have a $50 award for costume class and there will be a high-point award from all four horse shows which will be awarded at the final show in August. There are cake walks and egg toss contests along with a food stand at all shows. Directions to Sunset Arena are one mile south of Newcomerstown on Route 258, turn right onto Stocker Ridge Road; turn right onto Kings Ridge Road and the arena will be on the left. Antique tractors

The Bakersville Volunteer Fire Department will host a Chicken Bar-B-Q and Antique Tractor Pull on Saturday, June 17 at the Community Park on Route 751. Chicken dinner service will begin at 4 p.m. with a menu of one-half chicken, apple sauce, potato salad, roll, drink and dessert at a cost of $10 for adults and $7 for children. A half-chicken alone costs $6. The tractor pull follows at 6 p.m. Call 330-897-5293 for additional information.

Class of 1957

The class of 1957 plans to meet for lunch at the Main Street Grill in Newcomestown on July 5 at noon.

Alumni banquet

Uhrichsville High School alumni will meet Saturday, June 24, at the Uhrichsville Elks. There will be a social hour at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and dances at 7 p.m. at a cost of $20 each. Tickets are available until June 16 at Mako's Market in Uhrichsville, First National Bank in Dennison or by calling Barbie Garner at 740-269-6885. No tickets will be sold at the door. Graduates of Dennison, Saint Mary's and Claymont are welcome.

National Road

The Coshocton Public welcomes Ohio Humanities Council speaker, Sylvia Miller, on Monday, June 19, from 6:30 8 p.m. for "The National Road: A Ride Through Time." Miller will present her historical travelogue of the National Road from Wheeling West Virginia, across Ohio. Reservations are required for this program, which is sponsored by Friends of the Library and the Ohio Humanities Council.
