GNADENHUTTEN -- Authorities did not find a body in the Tuscarawas River Monday afternoon after there was a report of a bloated body floating in the water.
A man called 911 at 3:45 p.m., saying he saw a body floating in the river after he stopped his vehicle along state Route 416 near Frys Valley, according to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office. The man drove further down the road to the bridge at U.S. Route 36 to see if the body he thought he saw would continue floating down the river, but he did not see anything.
Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, along with the sheriff's office, about six minutes after the man called 911.
Two boats were launched in the water and authorities searched the river and river beds all the way to Port Washington with no body being discovered.
Responding fire departments were Newcomerstown, Arrowhead Joint Fire District and Warwick Township.
