Coshocton Library

The Coshocton Public Library, in conjunction with the Coshocton Arts Homecoming Plus celebration, will host a Local Authors Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at the library.

Local authors will be available to discuss their books and copies will be on hand for purchase, or bring your own copy for a personalized signing. Authors will include those living in and from Coshocton and contingent counties.

Any local author wishing to participate in this event should contact Holli Rainwater the Coshocton Public Library, 740-622- 0956.

The after-hours event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome to attend.

The following is a schedule of events for August at the Coshocton Public Library.

Books Galore Book Store, Monday 3 to 6 p.m., and Wednesday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Coshocton Public Library. Closed for the annual book sale, July 29-Aug. 5.

Plugged & Unplugged, Wednesdays, 2:30 to 5 p.m. Games, friends and fun for teens in grades 712. Plugged & Unplugged has video games, Internet access, laptops, board games and a place to hang out with friends. Every Wednesday at Coshocton Public Library. Free of charge. Chi Class sponsored by Coshocton Public Library, Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. No experience necessary. Classes are held at Roscoe United Methodist Church gym. Certified Chi Instructor and Library Outreach Coordinator Holli Rainwater leads the class. Call 740-622- 0956 for information.

West Lafayette Adult Book Discussion Club, Tuesday, Aug. 1, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the activities room at Lafayette Pointe, 620 East Main Street, across the street from the West Lafayette Branch Library. Call the library, 740-545- 6672, to reserve a copy of the book, "The Marriage of Opposites" by Alice Hoffman.

Annual Book Sale, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 3-4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 5, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale offers thousands of books at rock bottom prices. Beginning as low as 10 cents for magazines, 25 cents for paperbacks and 50 cents for hardcover, with selections as ranging from crafting to health care, romance to horror, you will undoubtedly find a bag full of books to keep you busy this winter. Be sure to visit the "Buck a Bag" room for the best bargain of all! A silent auction will be held for high-value items. All proceeds benefit the Library with programming for children, teens and adults at the main library, the West Lafayette Branch and Bookmobile.

Book Builders Lunch Break, Friday, Aug. 4, 12 to 12:55 p.m., Coshocton Public Library. Kids, age 7 to 11, are invited to a lunch-time book club with pizza, pop and an outstanding novel. Friends of the Library Monthly Meeting, Wednesday, Aug. 9, 12 to 1 p.m., Coshocton Public Library. Anyone who is a Friend of the Coshocton Public Library is invited to attend the monthly meeting. Volunteer opportunities are available in the library and bookstore for Friends members. Call 740-622- 0956 for information.

Looking Back: The History of West Lafayette through historical photographs, Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., West Lafayette Branch Library. Local historian, Dan Markley, returns to the branch library to share his knowledge of West Lafayette history while sharing his extensive collection of historic photographs. Registration is required. Coffee Club, Monday, Aug. 14, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Coshocton Public Library. Senior adults, 55 and older, are invited to join us for coffee and enlightening conversation, exploring a new topic each month. Bring a friend and enjoy the fellowship and fun!

B.E.S.T. Night @ the Branch, Thursday, Aug. 17, 5 to 7 p.m., West Lafayette Branch Library. Books. Electronics. Snacks. Teens. The best night to be at the West Lafayette Branch Library is B.E.S.T. Night @ the Branch. Teens, grades 7 12, are invited to a free after-hours program with laptops, gaming systems, snacks and fun with friends. Call 740-545- 6672 to sign-up.

An Afternoon with Wand Brunstetter, Thursday, Sept. 7, 4 to 6 p.m., sponsored by Coshocton Public Library and Friends of the Library. Join us at Central Christian Church for an afternoon with award-winning romance novelist Wanda Brunstutter. Wanda has led millions of readers to lose their hearts in the Amish life. She is the author of more than 70 books with more than 9 million copies sold, many winding up at the top of bestseller lists. She will be joined by her daughter-in-law, Jean, and granddaughter Richelle, co-authors of her new book, "The Beloved Christmas Quilt." Registration is required. Call 740-622- 0956 to register.
