Fire damages vacant residence
Blaze on Chestnut Street deemed 'suspicious'

Fire investigators have classified a blaze that heavily damaged a vacant residence on Chestnut Street on July 29 as "suspicious in nature."
The structure at 450 S. Chestnut Street sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage. The residence had been vacant for eight or nine years, according to reports.
Firefighters from at least four fire departments including the Newcomerstown Fire Department battled the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
The fire remained under investigation by the Newcomerstown department.
