Kenyon 'threes' sink Muskingum women

NEW CONCORD -- Kenyon College drained a total of 12 three-pointers in picking up a 71-62 victory over the Muskingum University women's basketball team to spoil the Ladyt Muskies' home opener Saturday at the Recreation Center.

Leading the Lady Lords long-range barrage was Maureen Hirt who connected on five "treys" en route to a game-high 23 point outing, while teammate Maggie Boelter drilled a total of four three-pointers to finish with 12 points.

Kenyon jumped out to a 36-31 lead at the halftime break, and was able to maintain its edge in the second half with a 35-31 scoring edge to pick up the win.

The Lady Lords took full advantage at the charity stripe, hitting on a perfect 15-of-15 free throw attempts in the contest.

Kayla Ernst chipped in with 19 points for Kenyon (6-1) while Katie Adlam added 11 markers for the winners.

Muskingum (3-3) was led by senior Hannah Nelson (Buckeye Trail) with 18 points, while freshman Karen Sidwell netted a career-high 17 points. Just missing double figures for the Lady Muskies was junior Tori Jarrett with eight points.

Muskingum finished with a 38-33 edge in the rebounding battle, with Jarrett leading the way with seven boards while Sidwell, juniors Meghan Billick and Gabbi Davis each pulled down five.

NEXT--Muskingum visits Wilmington College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
