NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Visiting Ridgewood High blanked Tuscarawas Central Catholic High, 5-0 in Inter-Valley Conference softball action Monday.
The Lady Generals used a four-run sixth inning to propel them to the victory.
Sydney Zinkon (10-7) tossed a complete game shut-out for Ridgewood striking out a pair and walking three in the win.
Pacing the Lady General's offense was Kailee Harris with a double, a pair of singles and two RBI followed by Rachel Simpson with two singles and an RBI, Alexis Griffith with a two-run single and Autumn Brown with a double.
Newcomerstown 11, Malvern 1
NEWCOMERSTOWN -- Host Newcomerstown erupted for 11 runs in the first five innings to post a 11-1, five-inning, "mercy-rule" Inter-Valley Conference win over the visiting Malvern Lady Hornets Monday.
The Lady Trojans spotted the visitors a 1-0 lead in the first inning, then roared back with four runs the bottom of the first and never looked back adding one the second, two the third, one the fourth and three runs in the bottom of the fifth frame for the 11-1 final.
Reagan Smith picked up the win in the circle fanning eight and walking just one. Paige Elder suffered the loss with two strikeouts and no walks.
Smith limited Malvern to just two hits, both singles by Elder and catcher Macy Zeigler. Newcomerstown (5-12, 3-7 IVC) banged out 15 hits paced by Kayla Gibson with a double and three singles, Leah Kellish and Smith added three singles each, Rachel Hinton a double and single and catcher Maddie Fish chipped in with a double.
Indian Valley 12, Newcomerstown 1
GNADENHUTTEN - Indian Valley pitching only allowed one hit in its 12-1 rout over visiting Newcomerstown High in softball action Tuesday night.
Ashley Tschudy hurled the first three innings for the Lady Braves and picked up the win with one K and one walk before getting relief help from Courtney Beckley in the fourth recording one strikeout. Gabby McPeek suffered the loss in the circle for the Lady Trojans (5-12) fanning one in two innings of work.
Tschudy also enjoyed a fine night at the plate where she was a home run short of the cycle with a triple, double, single and two RBI while Kayla Tschudy roped three singles and collected two RBI for Indian Valley (13-4).
Caitlin Durr collected the lone hit and run for Newcomerstown.
Ridgewood 19, Newcomerstown 13
WEST LAFAYETTE -- With 11 runs in the sixth inning, the host Ridgewood Lady Generals overcame a 12-8 deficit for a 19-13 Inter-Valley Conference win over backyard rival Newcomerstown Wednesday.
The Lady Generals had built a 4-0 lead through the first three innings, but the Lady Trojans erupted for nine runs in the top of the fourth with Ridgewood responding with three in the bottom of the frame. Newcomerstown added three more runs the fifth frame and Ridgewood tallied one in the bottom for the 12-8 lead for the Lady Trojans before the fateful sixth inning when Ridgewood exploded for the 11 runs.
Sydney Zinkon was the Ridgewood starter in the circle but gave way to Morgan Matis in the first and Matis picked up the win. The two combiend for three strikeouts and one walk. Gabby McPeek suffered the loss in relief of strter Raegan Smith as the duo combined for five Ks and three free passes.
It was a slugfest with Ridgewood (11-8, 8-2 IVC) banging out 17 hits led by Audrey Tingle with two inside the park homers and a double. Autumn Brown added two triples and a double, Katie Wilson a double and two singles, catcher Kaliee Harris two double, while Alexis Griffith, Rachel Simpson and Matis added two singles each. Newcomerstown (5-14, 3-8 IVC) also collected 17 hits paced by Rachel Hiinton with a home run and two singles with Leah Kellish adding four singles and Caitlyn Durr a double and two singles.
Ridgewood 9, East Canton 8
WEST LAFAYETTE -- Host Ridgewood High held off East Canton to pick up a 9-8 victory in Inter-Valley Conference action on Friday.
Sydney Zinkon collected the pitching win to improve her season mark to 11-8 for RHS, working six innings with three Ks and one walk.
The Lady Generals banged out 12 hits in the win led by Audrey Tingle who just missed hitting for the cycle with a home run, triple and single with four RBIs. Alexis Griffith, Sadie Wilson, and Autumn Brown each chipped in with a pair of singles.
Lexy Betts paced East Canton (9-11) with a pair of doubles with four RBIs.
Tusky CC 12, Newcomerstown 4
NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Visiting Newcomerstown High dropped a 12-4 decision to Tuscarawas Central Catholic in Inter-Valley Conference softball action on Friday.
The Lady Trojans manufactured three runs in the top of the opening inning, but the Lady Saints responded with four in the bottom of the first and added six more in the sixth to seal the victory.
Molly Triplett hurled a complete game for TCC striking out two and walking one in the winning decision. Raegan Smith started in the circle for Newcomerstown (5-15, 3-9 IVC) and took the loss, fanning two and walking one before being relieved in the fourth by Gabby McPeek who struck out a pair and did not allow a free pass.
Amber Peltz collected a triple, two singles and three RBI for the Lady Saints.
Maddie Fish stroked a pair of doubles for the Lady Trojans followed by Smith who had a single and three RBI.
