Things just seemed to fit for Linda and Rick Abel as they have become new owners of the Parkside Plaza complex in Newcomerstown.
The Abels of Coshocton, formerly of Newcomerstown, have always wanted to return to Newcomerstown and Rick loves to work in the garage. These two factors led to the couple's purchase of Express Lube (formerly Xpress Lube), The Tanner Side Salon (formerly Endless Summer), the building which houses Subway in Newcomerstown and additional office space.
"We came to the auction back in June just to look -- not to buy," Linda Abel said, "because he (Rick) always wanted a garage."
On Nov. 18, they officially became the new owners of the complex. They maintain the same staff with includes three employees. Linda said it's been the staff that has really helped them during the transition of ownership.
Also, the couple stays busy in Coshocton as Rick maintains his full-time position at a factory, and they are both therapeutic foster parents and have been for the past 20 years. The couple has three adopted children and four foster daughters.
"We like to stay busy," Linda Abel said.
The Abels plan to move back to Newcomerstown once their daughters have graduated from high school.
"I miss Newcomerstown," Rick Abel said. "I like the people here."
As far as future plans go, the Abels are already looking ahead.
"We've had lots of ideas of expanding the garage in the future," Rick Abel said.
The garage currently offers mechanical work as well as oil changes, etc.
Where as, they also plan to open a nail salon in the future.
