Elementary students help with Share-A-Christmas, food drive

PORT WASHINGTON -- Indian Valley Elementary Schools at Port Washington and Midvale collected items for Share-A-Christmas, Indian Valley FFA Toy Drive and canned food for local food pantries.

"Both elementary students did an excellent job once again. This is the eighth year that the students have been donating for this," said Melanie Baker, Family Advocate, Indian Valley Elementary Schools.

Port Washington collected about 200 gift items for the FFA's Toy Drive. The school also collected 1,150 canned food items that were donated to Saint Paul's Church of Christ at Port Washington. St. Paul's Church assists in the Tuscarawas County's Food Basket distribution.

Midvale Elementary students collected about 200 gifts also. Midvale collected 465 canned food items that were donated to Twin City Christian Center at Uhrichsville. They collected $650 through the Indian Valley Local School District, too.

"I'm very proud of my students, this is one of the many ways they are learning to help others," Baker said.
