Reeves Foundation awards funds to local projects
NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Several area projects will be receiving money from the Reeves Foundation. This year, funds were handed out to 38 eligible organizations to the tune of $1,229,077.
Locally, the projects or plans approved include:
Indian Valley baseball field improvements in Gnadenhutten, $20,000;
Indian Valley Local Schools' Project Lead the Way computer equipment, $15,000 (which is shared between the Dover City, New Philadelphia City, Tuscarawas Valley, Strasburg and Zoarville school districts);
Stone Creek Volunteer Fire Department for concrete parking area, $10,111;
Newcomerstown schools' band uniforms, $7,550; and
Gnadenhutten Historical Society building's new roof, $4,750.
This year marked 42 years of continuous community service with a grand total of $25,888,320 in grants disbursed by the Reeves Foundation.
In 1966, the group's first trustees were Samuel Reeves, who served as president until his death in 1977; Helen Reeves; and Thomas Scheffer.
