BPW learns about Ohio Air National GuardZANESVILLE -- Tomma Bordenkircher, Region 4 President and a member of Coshocton Business and Professional Women (BPW) evaluated the Zanesville BPW meeting on Dec. 15 at the noon meeting at Heavenly Ham.Guest speaker was Master Sergeant (MSgt) Betsy Brocklehurst, Recruiting and Retention Noncommissioned Officer (NCO), Ohio Air National Guard (OANG), 220 Engineering Installation Squadron. MSgt Brocklehurst explained the mission of the OANG, and then answered questions from the members. She offered suggestions for care packages to Iraq such as snack food that are individually wrapped and powdered drinks. She strongly discouraged sending chocolate and taco chips because of the heat. She also suggested sending items directly to the OANG to be forwarded to the troops due to the privacy act. For information, contact MSgt Brocklehurt at 1-877-356-8078 or email@example.com.Tomma Bordenkircher encouraged members to attend the Region and State Individual Development and Young Careerist competitions in February and April, and the state conference in May at the Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark. She also encouraged members to take the Individual Development Program (IDP) course. The IDP is a 14-module course that is open to the public and covers various topics such as public speaking, negotiation, and interviewing skills, just to name a few.The auction held last month was very successful due to donations by the community. Proceeds will go to the general fund and to the scholarship fund. Members participated in an ornament exchange after they introduced themselves with what their wish would be for the community next year.The next meeting will be Monday, Jan. 19 at noon at Heavenly Ham. The program will be the Individual Development and Young Careerist competitions.
