With jobs being quite scare these days, the upcoming advertisements to fill several job positions may be a welcome sight for some individuals that are looking for work.
The Village of Newcomerstown will soon be listing several full-time and part-time job positions that they announced at their meeting March 16.
Council later announced and approved several other positions following an executive session to discuss personnel.
During regular session, council approved advertising for seasonal pool help and lifeguard managers. The plan is to advertise April 3-12, with an application deadline of April 22. The interviews will be planned for the week of April 23-30, with the recommendations for hiring being announced at the May 4 regular council meeting.
The village will also advertise for two full-time labor pool positions and two seasonal labor positions. Council did not provide any information as to how the need for the positions became evident.
In other business:
* Mayor Steve Guy requested council to consider discussing the type of fencing to be used at the former landfill site. Councilmember Dave Hickman informed the mayor that council had previously discussed the matter and decided on split rail-type fencing. The plan is to keep the area as a nature preserve area, with a possible walking path.
* Clean-up Week in the village will be April 27-May 1, according to Street Superintendent J.R. Simmons.
Council will meet again April 6 at 7 p.m. at the civic center.
