Resurfacing work on I-77 under way

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 started work April 6 to resurface Interstate 77 between New Philadelphia and Stone Creek in Tuscarwas County.

Over eight miles of I-77 will be resurfaced from just north of the New Philadelphia exit (exit 81) to just south of Stone Creek.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction during working hours, Monday through Friday. No work will occur on the weekends. All lanes will be open to traffic by noon on Fridays until work resumes at 6 a.m. on Mondays.

ODOT's contractor for this $8.9 million project is The Shelly Company from Thornville and the completion date is Sept. 15, 2009.
