Dining In Christ's Kitchen: A new service at Dick's Restaurant

An exciting new ministry will launch on Sunday, April 19 at Dick's Resturaunt in conjunction with Christ United Methodist Church. D.I.C.K.'s, Dining in Christ's Kitchen, will be an opportunity for community members to dine together with family and friends for no cost.

Dick Miller, owner of DICK's Resturaunt, has been looking for an opportunity to give back to the community. He feels during this financially difficult time when families are struggling to meet basic needs that they often have to sacrifice the little "extras" like going out to eat or to the movies. Therefore, Miller will be opening his restaurant between the hours 4 to 6 p.m. every Sunday beginning April 19 for just such a cause. Community members are encouraged to gather together and share a quality meal for no cost. The meal will consist of one main dish, one side dish, dessert and a beverage.

Christ UMC is coming alongside the Miller family to help Dining in Christ's Kitchen become a community success. Christ UMC members and others in the community will be assisting the Millers in the tasks of preparation, service and cleanup. If you are interested in helping serve during one of these events, contact Christ UMC at 498-8134 or see Miller during regular operating hours. Dining in Christ's Kitchen, will be held at Dick's Restaurant located at 104 Bridge St., Newcomerstown. While the intention of this ministry is to offer an open meal for no cost we note that donations are always appreciated and therefore will be accepted. Any proceeds will benefit the Christ UMC Care and Share fund which operates as a one-time, limited financial assistance for community members who contact the church and meet certain criteria.
