COSHOCTON -- The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is announcing the students who were awarded ribbons in its current special exhibit, Teen-Age Talent. The exhibit, on display though May 10, showcases artwork by students from Coshocton High School, River View High School, Ridgewood High School, Coshocton Opportunity School and Discovery and Expression through Art.
Students placed each submission in one of the following categories. Fine Art (2-D), 3-Dimensional Fine Art, Design (Works meant to inform or entertain), and Black and White Drawing. Each category was judged for Composition, Technique (craftsmanship or effective use of medium), and Originality.
Sarah Edwards and Kelsey Schott, judges for the show, found the judging very difficult because of the superb quality of the work. They were particularly impressed with the strong sense of design skill that each student displayed. The judges expressed their hope that each student continues his/her artistic endeavors. Special recognition should be given to the art instructors for their dedication to young people and their encouragement of the arts.
The winners from Ridgewood High School include: Casey, Buel, second place, 3-Dimensional category (composition); Chester Boffo, first place, 3-Dimensional category (technique); Chester Boffo, first place, 3-Dimensional category (originality); Casey Buel, second place, 3-Dimensional category (originality); Kyle Davis, third place, 3-Dimensional category (originality); Andy Callahan, first place, Black and White Drawing category (technique); Mary Cumbee, second place, Black and White Drawing category (technique); Andy Callahan, first place, Black and White Drawing category (originality); and Michael Fixel, third place, Design category (technique).
