PORT WASHINGTON -- The yearly joint meeting of the Port Washington Village Council, Salem Township Trustees, Tri-County Ambulance, Delaware Valley Fire District and Union Cemetery board took place May 5.

Police Chief Shawn Nelson said the Homeland Security Department donated a new portable radio to the police department.

Mayor Tom Gardner thanked Chief Nelson for his help also the Sheriff Department and State Highway Patrol in apprehending the driver of a truck that hit the traffic light and caused damage to the light.

Council voted to split three lots on N. High Street owned by Denise McGinnis.

Memorial Day service will be at noon on May 25 at the cemetery, followed by a parade. A military fly-over will be at 1:15 p.m.

The next council meeting will be May 19 at 7 p.m.
