Join the Write-On Writers of Coshocton for an evening of poetry and music Thursday, June 18th, 7:00 to 9:00 PM. at Tim Hortons, 131 Chestnut Street, Coshocton, Ohio. Featured this month is local poet Doug Rutledge, president of the Ohio Poetry Association and the proprietor of Areopagitica Books on High Street in Columbus. Doug is author of Ceremony and Text in the Renaissance, and The Somali Diaspora, A Journey Away. He holds a PhD in English (University of Chicago), and has taught college English and Literature for two decades. His most recent poem, "Foreigners" will appear in The Pudding House Gang anthology (2009). Doug has been a featured poet at SIPS Coffee House in Mt. Vernon. Featured musician, Keith Maloy of West Lafayette, plays fingerstyle instrumental guitar interpreting songs from The Beatles, Eric Clapton, James Taylor and Jim Croce as well as his own compositions. Keith teaches and encourages students all over the area; many are now performing themselves at various venues. There is an open mic for anyone to read their own or a favorite poem or share a song.
