East School ready for back to school
The start of the new school year is rapidly approaching. The East School staff members are looking forward to seeing all children and parents at the East School Open House on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 6 to 7 p.m.
When the new students and their families come to East School, they will find the East School a clean, attractive, exciting place to learn, thanks to the hard work of the custodians, and the teaching staff who have worked this summer to create an atmosphere where your children will thrive.
The school year begins for first grade students on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Kindergarten students have been scheduled for orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 26 and will begin full time on Thursday, Aug. 27.
East School students may begin arriving at 8 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 8:30 a.m. Dismissal starts at 2:52 p.m. Parking and traffic congestion at the East School can be difficult. Observe all no parking areas. When you pull into the alley, there is no parking on the right side. All cars must pull into the Lutheran Church parking lot. No cars are permitted past the lot. The East School staff also would like to request that all persons picking up students after school wait outside at the rear of building. This will avoid noise and congestion in the halls and allow the safest means of dismissal.
In case of absence, call the voice mail at 498-4086 or the East School office at 498-6601 early on the morning of the absence. The parent or guardian of the child also needs to send a note to school explaining the absence when the child returns. When there is to be a change in the normal dismissal procedure for a student (not riding the bus, going home with another adult, etc.) send a note to school informing the child's teacher in advance. The staff cannot change a child's normal "going home" procedure without notification of the parent or guardian.
Lunch will cost $2.25; reduced lunch price is $.40. Breakfast is free for all students. Additional milk cost is $.50.
The East School staff is looking forward to an outstanding year. It is the goal of everyone at the East School to provide the best education possible in a setting that is caring and loving of children. They look forward to a partnership with parents as we work together to provide the very best education for the children of Newcomerstown.
If you have any questions, call the East School Office at 498-6601.
