Even though temperatures have been in the 90s recently, the Newcomerstown Public Library has announced that winter hours will begin Aug. 31.

The new schedule will reduce hours overall, but keep the library open Saturdays and evenings. The library will be open for eight hours, six days a week.

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the library will open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. On Tuesday and Thursday, the library will open at noon and close at 8 p.m. The library will also be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

The Newcomerstown Library Board adopted the varied schedule to ensure that the library is open when it is convenient for area residents and students who need evening and Saturday hours. The schedule also makes it easier to maintain services while reducing operating costs.

Bookmarks with the new hours are available at the Circulation Desk. The new hours are also posted on the library's Web site at www.newcomerstownlibrary.org.
