Community plans Thanksgiving celebration Nov. 15

Once again, the entire Newcomerstown community is invited to enjoy a free Thanksgiving meal and celebration at the River of Life Community Center, adjacent to the Christ United Methodist Church, 648 Oak St., Newcomerstown. The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15.

The Thanksgiving celebration is sponsored by Journey's End Ministries, The Newcomerstown Area Ministerial Association and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The purpose of the event is to draw the community together, to provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal to those who otherwise might not have one and to give thanks for the blessings we enjoy as Americans and Newcomerstown area residents. The meal will be accompanied with music, drama, remembrances and expressions of thanks.

The meal and celebration are free and is open to everyone. For those who wish to donate, a free will offering will be taken to support Journey's End Ministries. A $1 gift will enable Journey's End Ministries to purchase $10 worth of food for those who have need. No gift is too small.

Area churches having shut-in members who are not able to attend the Thanksgiving celebration may request carry-out meals. Requests for carry-out meals must be made by Nov. 12 and each church is responsible for picking up the meals at 4 p.m. on Nov. 15 and delivering them to their shut-in members.

Contact Mary Lou at 498-6256 or marylou1238@sbcglobal.net by Nov. 12 with the names and addresses of your shut-ins.
