Thank you

A big thank you goes out to the Newcomerstown Fire Department for their excellent presentation for Fire Prevention Week!

Students got to say hello, to Blue, the fire dog!

'Make A Difference Day'

The students collected $226 worth of pennies. The pennies were donated to juvenile diabetes. Mrs. Cathy McCrea, our school nurse, will accept the donation and pass it along. Thank you to everyone for helping with this project!

PTO give-away!

The next General PTO meeting will be Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. We'll have a short meeting to discuss the upcoming Santa Shop that will take place on Dec. 8-11. Students will be able to purchase inexpensive items for their family and friends. We will also be discussing plans for the Winter Carnival that will take place Feb. 6. There will be a classroom presentation from Mrs. Kellish's and Mrs. Little's classes. Then, as we have done in the past few years, we will have a drawing for gift cards from several local stores. We hope these will help you get ready for the upcoming holiday meals. We'll also be having chicken sandwiches, chips and drinks after the meeting. There will be a reservation slip coming home for this meeting so we can plan for the refreshments. Please fill it out and send it back before the meeting. We hope to see you all there.

Reminder

As we move into November, the weather is turning colder. Please be sure to send your child with gloves, hat and a coat that is warm enough for the cold temperatures.

Grandparents' breakfast

On Nov. 17-20, grandparents are invited to come and eat breakfast with us! If a student does not have a grandparent who is able to come, they may bring another "special adult." We will be sending home an RSVP form for this breakfast so that we can plan appropriately. The cost of an adult breakfast is $1.50.

The schedule will be:

Monday, Nov. 17 -- Mrs. Darr's and Miss Ellis' classes

Tuesday, Nov. 18 --Mrs. Kellish's and Mr. Mayse's classes

Wednesday, Nov. 19 -- Mrs. Prysi's and Mrs. Little's classes

Thursday, Nov. 20 -- Miss Stewart's and Mrs. Taggart's classes

Christmas programs

East School Christmas programs will be held at the middle school auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 11. The kindergarten program will begin at 6 p.m. The first grade program will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Absence from school

Please remember that if your child is absent, you must send in a note when the child returns to school explaining why the child was absent.

If you do not send in a note the absence is marked as unexcused. This note is in addition to calling your child off from school. Calling your child off school just lets us know that you are aware that your child is not in school for the purposes of ensuring your child's safety.

Further information regarding students absence can be found in the East School Student Handbook.

Thanksgiving break

School will not be in session on Nov. 27 through Dec. 1 because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Student of the Month

The Student of the Month is Jamison Foster, a kindergartner in Mrs. Prysi's room.
