BIRDS RUN -- A residence on Keats Road in northwest Guernsey County was reportedly destroyed by fire Sunday (Dec. 27) morning despite the efforts of firefighters from five area departments.

According to reports, Liberty Community volunteer firefighters were dispatched to the home at approximately 8:17 a.m. after a 911 call was received at the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office reporting the blaze.

At 8:34 a.m., Liberty firefighters arriving at the scene outside Birds Run in Wheeling Township reported the home was fully involved.

Firefighters from Cassell Station, Newcomerstown, Delaware Valley and Cambridge were dispatched to provide mutual aid.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, although the home was reportedly occupied at the time of the blaze.

Firefighters remained at the scene for several hours.

No cause for the fire or damage estimate were available as of press time Monday.

The fire remained under investigation by Liberty personnel.
