Newcomerstown Historical Society recently met March 10 to discuss upcoming events being planned by the society for this year.

Among the events planned is a special tribute to the former Heller Brothers factory that was in operation in Newcomerstown for many years. The society will have an open house for the event on May 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A handmade, detailed model of the factory that was made by a former Heller employee Russell Marquand in the 1960s; it will be on display. Light refreshments will be served. The event is open to the public.

The society is also planning to have a chicken barbecue in July and a spaghetti dinner possibly in September. They are also planning to have an afternoon tea with a fashion show in the fall. Watch the Newcomerstown News for future details.

The yearly membership drive will be in April. Dues are $10 per year. Anyone interested in joining the museum is encouraged to attend the monthly meetings which are on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.

The next meeting will take place at the Temperance House Museum on April 14.
