Newell to return to Nc'town for university band concert The Oklahoma City Christian University Bands will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5 at the Newcomerstown Middle School.Featured university groups will include the Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dr. John Fletcher, and the Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Heath Jones. The concert will offer a variety of musical styles, including traditional and contemporary concert band literature, plus a sampling of 60 years of big band jazz. Seth Newell, a member of the Oklahoma Christian University bands, is a graduate of Newcomerstown High School and will be performing at the concert. This free concert is part of a 13-day tour that includes scheduled stops in Louisville, Ky.; Dayton, Cincinnati and Newcomerstown; York, Pa.; New York City, N.Y.; Washington, D.C.; McLean and Waynesboro, Va.; and Chatanooga, Tenn.Musical groups from Oklahoma Christian University take annual tours to many regions of the United States.
