A 19-year old Stone Creek man and a 17-year old Newcomerstown female were transported by helicopter from the scene of an accident last Wednesday night in Newcomerstown.

According to Newcomerstown Police Chief Gary Holland, Steven Hiles, 19, of 106 W. Jefferson St., Stone Creek, was traveling west in his 1999 Ford Ranger pick-up truck on State Street when he went left of center striking a bridge.

Both Hiles and his passenger, a 17-year old female from Newcomerstown (who's name is not being released because of her age), were taken by MedFlight to Akron General Hospital where their conditions were not known.

Chief Holland said Hiles just got off work when the accident occurred at 9:47 p.m.

Both the Newcomerstown Police and Fire Departments were on the scene.

Hiles was cited for failure to control.

The crash remained under investigation by the police department.
