PORT WASHINGTON -- Port Washington Village Council passed an ordinance providing for enactment of keeping down weeds in the village. Vacant lots also must have noxious weeds mowed at least once a month from April until October. This ordinance was passed as an emergency measure. This ordinance took effect immediately on passage.

Mayor Tom Gardner said he must order new flags for the square and Belden Park.

A report was made that the village did not receive the Community Development Block Grant for a paving project as applied for.

At the June 1 meeting, council passed the Flood Plain Damage Reduction ordinance.

Council agreed to pay for travel and lodging for fiscal officer Angela Albaugh to attend a meeting for computer training in Columbus on June 28-29.

The need for a ceiling fan for the concession stand at the ballfields was discussed. Council agreed to purchase the fan. Also, other improvements for the field were discussed and approved.

Council agreed to have only one meeting for the months of July and August. These meetings will be on the first Tuesday of each month.
