Hearing receives PhD
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Matthew C. Hearing received a PhD in neurosciences from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. His dissertation title was "The Role of Activity-regulated Gene Expression in Context-driven Relapse and Extinction Following Abstinence from Cocaine Self-administration."
He is the son of Carl and Vicki Hearing of Monroe, Wis. His grandparents are Edmund and Noreene Johnson of Newcomerstown, Ohio, and Patricia Hearing of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, and the late Orrin C. Hearing Jr.
He received a bachelor of science from Marquette University where he also minored in chemistry. Hearing has accepted a position at the University of Minnesota in the department of Pharmacology. He and his wife, Amber, reside in Minneapolis, Minn.
Steed named to dean's list
COSHOCTON -- Samantha M. (Nay) Steed, the daughter of Margie Nay and the late Fred D. Nay of Newcomerstown, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2010 quarter at the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) of Coshocton.
Steed is majoring in human services.
To qualify for the dean's list, the student must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and maintain a grade point average for the quarter of 3.50 or higher.
