Gnadenhutten to welcome Apple Butter Days Oct. 9-10GNADENHUTTEN -- The ninth annual Apple Butter Days Car Show and a Kiddie Car Show are just some of the attractions at the 16th annual Apple Butter Days this Saturday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 10 on the grounds of the Historical Park and Museum in Gnadenhutten. Admission is free for all visitors.The Historical Society will be selling apple butter for those wishing to take some home. Sandwiches, apple pie and beverages will be available at the concession stand. A vendor will also be selling kettle corn.The car show is Sunday with registration from 9 to 11 a.m. Registration fee is $7 per vehicle displayed or pre-registration is only $5 per vehicle. To pre-register or for more information, call the Gnadenhutten Historical Society office at (740) 254-9382 Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Judging for the car show is at 2 p.m. with the awarding of trophies immediately following. Trophies, sponsored by area businesses, will be awarded in the categories of "Best of Show," "Historical Society Award," and "Top 10." There will be only one trophy awarded for 25 years and newer. Dash plaques will be presented to the first 50 entries. Proceeds from the car show will benefit the Gnadenhutten Historical Society to help maintain the Historical Museum and grounds as well as preserve the Mission Church and Cooper House.Following the car show, the Historical Society will be hosting the Kiddie Car Show. The cost to enter each Matchbox/Hot Wheels size car is 10 cents. Prizes will be awarded and each entrant will receive a gift for entering. Also on Sunday, a sausage and pancake breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon.Apple Butter Days will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy autumn in the village's scenic historical park, located on S. Cherry Street.
