Earlier this month, the Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District had a wind turbine installed which concluded the energy-efficient project at the schools. The turbine was constructed and installed by Wind Turbines of Alliance. The turbine installed is a Bergey 10-kilowatt turbine (built in Oklahoma) with a 100-foot tower. It was purchased with two grants; one grant was from the Appalachian Regional Commission and the other grant from the Ohio Department of Development -- Energy Division. The energy savings for the West Elementary School will be approximately $3,000 per year.
