Wrestlers help clean up museum groundsWilliam Casteel/Newcomerstown NewsA few members of the Newcomerstown High School wrestling team took part in a clean-up project at the Newcomerstown Historical Society Nov. 6. The NHS winter sports athletes have recently been volunteering their time to assist the community with minor clean-up and repair jobs, under the direction of NHS coach Matt Ritzert. Pictured, l to r, are wrestling coach J.J. Lute, Mitchell Meeks, Alan Hayhurst and Russell Kistler. Several local residents were also part of the clean-up project Mary Watts, K.J. Mason, Gloria Johnson and Bill Van Sickle. The Newcomerstown Historical Society is planning to complete some landscaping to the Temperance Tavern Museum grounds in the spring. Anyone interested in joining the Newcomerstown Historical Society (membership is $10 a year), may call 498-8588 or 545-0260. Meetings take place the second Wednesday of each month. The Newcomerstown Historical Society is already planning some events and new exhibits for next year.
